Art Journaling Group

A creative, supportive space where youth explore emotions, identity, and real-life challenges through art and guided conversation.

Program Overview

The Art Journaling Group Youth Program is a flexible, youth-centered series that combines creative expression with meaningful conversations about topics that matter. Sessions explore areas such as identity, emotions, relationships, boundaries, and wellness in a way that feels accessible and relevant.

This program is designed to adapt to each group. Facilitators actively respond to the energy and needs of participants, adjusting topics, pacing, and creative approaches. Youth are given choice in what they explore, helping build engagement, ownership, and empowerment, while schools can also request priority themes.

Typically offered as an 8-week series (with options to extend), each session blends journaling, art-making, and supportive discussion within a trauma-informed environment that fosters self-expression, connection, and personal growth. Snacks are provided to create a welcoming and comfortable space.

Creating a Safe & Supportive Space

Facilitators prioritize emotional safety and respect in every session. Group agreements are established to guide thoughtful sharing and ensure a supportive environment for all participants.

When sensitive topics arise, facilitators respond with care—gently redirecting when needed while validating each youth’s experience. One-on-one support is available during or after sessions, and collaboration with school counsellors or youth workers ensures participants are connected to additional supports when appropriate.

Each session is led by two facilitators, allowing for both group continuity and individual care when needed.
